DESCRIPTION:A fun community bike ride through the heart of Santa Rosa. \nCome join us this Tuesday!\nWe roll through the JC and McDonald Ave neighborhood\, stop in Courthouse Square\, then on to the taco trucks at Mitote Food Park in Roseland for dinner!\nWe depart Mitote at 8:15pm\, ride back through Courthouse Square\, then on to Yogurt Farms for dessert.\nThis ride is 8 miles round trip and rides all year long.\nRides canceled for rain and holidays.\nAll riders welcome. Bring the whole family!\nMeet at SRJC parking lot at 550 Silva Ave. We are renting the use of this parking lot every Tuesday from 5:30pm to 9:30 pm. Taco Tuesday riders can park in the lot during that time frame for free.\nPlease park cars along the back wall on the east side. And stage in the row on the northern side of the lot (closest to Silva Ave). \nMeet at 5:30pm; pedals up at 6pm.\n

SUMMARY:The Poet's House\, A Reading by Elizabeth Herron
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a very special reading from The Poet’s House by Elizabeth C. Herron\, Poet Laureate of Sonoma County\, 2022 to 2024. \nElizabeth Herron’s book-length poem\, The Poet’s House was written in parallel with Bruce Johnson’s creation of his opus sculpture\, Poetry House\, a Japanese teahouse-inspired work currently sited on Johnson’s property. After discovering a poem Elizabeth had written in the Guest Book of the Sonoma Mountain Zen Center\, “It struck me\,” Bruce said\, “that I was building a ‘poetry house’ rather than a teahouse – even though I had no idea what a ‘poetry house’ would be.” He invited Elizabeth to join in the project and over the subsequent year and a half\, she wrote her long poem The Poet’s House portions of which are inscribed underneath the building’s roof and walls\, “to imbue this small sacred space with verse\,” as Bruce said. \nThe original hand-written book\, The Poet’s House\, is currently on display in the museum gallery as part of the exhibition of Bruce Johnson’s work. Publication of The Poet’s House is scheduled for 2026.

DESCRIPTION:Based on the hit TV show “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?”\, this spirited game show places Sonoma County 5th graders onstage\, ready to assist “celebrity” contestants in answering questions derived from a 5th grade curriculum.\nThe Raven’s version is a family-friendly fundraiser that incorporates Sonoma County Board of Education subject matter into the trivia\, with school administrators\, principals\, and teachers featured as the local “celebrities.” With the aid of each school’s 5th graders\, the adults hope to answer correctly to win cash for their respective schools. This is not a competition among the schools\, just a wonderfully entertaining way to raise money for education and the Raven!
