SUMMARY:Día de Muertos Altar Lighting at Sonoma Community Center
DESCRIPTION:The Sonoma Community Center will hold its Dia de Muertos altar lighting\, as scheduled\, on November 1 at 6:00 PM. We welcome the community to join us in remembering those who have passed\, by: viewing the Center’s public altars\, the Community Butterfly Exhibit\, and visiting the gallery featuring the work of artist Adrián Arias. Community members are welcome to leave a note or photo at the altar anytime during the month of November. The Center has made the difficult decision to cancel the other festivities that had been planned for November 1st. We made this decision after consulting with community members and in acknowledgment of the uncertainty and fear in our community and across our country. As always\, we will look to the healing power of art\, creativity\, and community to respond to the needs of this time. Our butterfly exhibit features hundreds of butterflies colored by our diverse community with handwritten dreams and wishes for our collective future. The butterflies symbolize resilience\, beauty\, hope\, and migration\, and are a representation of our connection to each other. As a community center\, we are a safe space for all Sonomans to gather\, learn\, and grow. It is against our mission and values to in any way endanger or cause anxiety for our community. We stand with all of Sonoma to support each other in respect\, care\, kindness\, and dignity.

DESCRIPTION:Costumes are welcome but please no masks or weapons (prop or otherwise). We will have a zero-tolerance policy on masks. At any point during the show a mask appears\, that person will be asked to leave immediately. No exceptions.\n\nJoin us at the iconic Woodsboro High School (Sonoma Community Center) for the 1996 horror classic\, Scream. Written by Kevin Williamson and directed by the late Wes Craven\, the Center was used as the set for the high school scenes in the fictitious town of Woodsboro. \nWe will have adult beverages and non-alcoholic options for sale\, and of course\, popcorn.
